I Finally made it to the Pushkin museum in Moscow during my last layover. Wow! it was pretty impressive and interesting. Compact in size if compared to the Metropolitan in New York. More in size, like a small East Wing Gallery in the Smithsonian.

The Pushkin Musueum is located a couple of blocks away from the beautiful Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, a manageable walk (ven in -5 temperature) from the hotel.

The musuem consists of two separate buildings, one next to the other and the admission fee for each building is 300 Rubles in cash.

TRAVEL GEAR - Foldable Water Bottel - Vapur

The February issue of Real Simple magazine featured the VAPUR portable water bottle as one of it's "Problem Solvers of the Month". It's also a very handy item for travel.

The VAPUR , is a 16oz container made of FDA approved BPA-free Polymer that "rolls or folds up when not in use", so its an easy item to store when empty, in a pant pocket, a back pack or a suitcase. It sells for $9.00 dollars a piece.

Vapur claims (on it's web site) that their water bottles are "reusable, cleanable, attachable, foldable and freezable". A bottle can be used as an ice pack, if filled with water and frozen. Vapur also donates a percentage of their profits to water related environmental causes.

Thailand - Fly to the Islands

Made it to Phuket (an island south of Bangkok). Beautiful beaches. Great people. Highly recommend Air Asia. They fly 320's just like Jetblue for only 50 US$. A better deal full fair than our standby passes on Thai Air plus a great crew. Beach today. Party tonight then off to a secluded island for a few days. Amazing place.

GENEVA - Day trip to Mont Blanc and Chamonix

I wanted to tell you about one of my best layover's in Geneva, Switzerland . We rented a car and drove to Chamonix/Mont Blanc. You can rent a chep car for 75.00 SF at a hotel called the Balzac, located behind the Hotel Kempinski, across the street from a COOP Market (ask your concierge for directions) You get 300 free KM, more than enough to get to Chamonix and back, the drive is quick and easy. It is about a 45 min. drive, on a well indicated highway. You park the car in the French Village of Chamonix, and then you take the "Telepheric" up Mont Blanc. You can actually go across a glacier which separates the French and Italian Alps. So in one afternoon, you can hit all 3 countries, pretty cool. There are several levels and stops on the Tramway. The highest level/platform is called L'aiguille du Midi, (needle of the Midi), it is a weather monitoring device, and at that point you are about 12,000 Ft. above sea level. You are above the clouds, and the view is spectacular! . The tram ride is 24 Euros, and to go to the top,"L'Aiguille.." (which is a must!) is an additional 18 Euros.

Be sure to take a camera, and a jacket and we took bread, cheese and wine, and of course Swiss Chocolate for our ride on the Tram.

PARIS READS - The Sharper Your Knife

This is very funny book about a middle aged woman who gets fired form her high powered position in London and then decides to start over in Paris, by training to be a Chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. The book describes her struggles through a new language and culture while living in Paris, and her difficulties learning to cook, while attending classes at the most famous cooking school in the world, The Cordon Bleu.

I loved the characters descriptions of her cooking classes at the Cordon Bleu and of the Paris markets, neighborhoods and shops. I also enjoyed, the lovely recipes included at the end of each chapter of the book.
